Global superstar joins a list of renowned music acts on the Gold Coast for music month

09 Feb 2023

The summer vibes are sticking around all through February on the Gold Coast with a month of huge live music events that will see fans from across the country flock to the beachside destination.

Tickets are sold out for the Gold Coast stop of Harry Styles' Love on Tour with out-of-region visitors making up the majority of ticket sales to the 28 February show at Metricon Stadium.

Earlier in the month international heavyweight Ben Harper and Australia's own sibling duo Angus and Julia Stone will headline SummerSalt music festival on 12 February, with UK pop sensation Charli XCX and fellow Brit DJ Duke Dumont leading the bill at For The Love on 25 February.

Major Events Gold Coast CEO Jan McCormick said for music fans February will be a month not to miss on the Gold Coast. "Securing Harry Styles' only Queensland performance was a huge win for the Gold Coast's burgeoning music tourism industry and highlights the city's growing profile as an international music event destination," said Ms McCormick.

"A huge percentage of the tickets sold for Harry's concert have been from interstate fans which translates to an economic windfall for local businesses. Many concert goers won't just come for the concert but for a holiday as well, spending at least a few days seeing everything else this beautiful destination has to offer, staying in our hotels and eating out in our restaurants and cafés."

Roger Field, President, Live Nation Asia Pacific said: "It’s great to see an artist of the calibre of Harry Styles coming to the Gold Coast, alongside the likes of Jack Johnson, Tim Minchin, Festival X, Spilt Milk, 5SOS, Benee Urzila Carlson, Jimmy Rees and Russell Howard. These major events are more than just a big night out. They drive visitation and support businesses.”

“There is clearly a demand for live music on the Gold Coast, and that’s why we are committed to growing the entertainment offering, and audience."

The multiple Grammy Award-winning artist is just one of the big names coming to the Gold Coast during the month of February.

"We're excited to welcome back SummerSalt and For The Love in 2023, both music festivals proved popular last year, and this year's lineups are looking even more impressive, we are delighted to be able to support their return this year," said Ms McCormick.

SummerSalt returns on 12 February with an incredible bill of international and homegrown artists including Angus & Julia Stone, Ben Harper, City and Colour, The Rubens, Middle Kids, and Alex the Astronaut.

The family-friendly festival sold out in 2022 and has moved to Broadwater Parklands in Southport in 2023 to accommodate more fans. Tickets for SummerSalt can be purchased through Ticketmaster.

For The Love is again at Doug Jennings Park at The Spit on 25 February as part of a four-city national tour. Designed to be the soundtrack to summer, headliners include global pop sensation Charli XCX, beloved dance icons Duke Dumont, Sonny Fedora & Snakehips and Aussie favourites Cosmo’s Midnight, Budjerah, Kye, Sumner and Jade Zoe. More information can be found on the For The Love website with tickets available to purchase oztix.

“We can’t wait to bring For The Love back to the Gold Coast and along with it an incredible lineup of top-tier international artists and Aussie favourites,” said Director Ben Tucker.

“The Spit provides the perfect natural waterside amphitheatre that our music and lifestyle festival has become known for and were expecting great crowds to turn out to enjoy an unforgettable sun-drenched experience.”

"There is simply no better time to visit the Gold Coast if you are a music fan than February with three huge music events,’’ said Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate. "We are already attracting some of the biggest names in the music industry to our city and some of the country's most popular touring music festivals, and we're determined to continue to grow as a music destination providing Australian and overseas visitors with even more reasons to holiday here."

"The Gold Coast is continuing to grow as a must-visit live music destination, and where else would you want to go to see live music with so many other things to do and see while you’re here," said Ms McCormick. "We are excited to continue to work with music promoters to secure more international and national live music events and festivals for the city."

And February 2024 is set to be just as big as 2023 for major music events on the Gold Coast, with the announcement that three-time Grammy Award-winning US singer P!NK is set to perform at Metricon Stadium on 20 February 2024 as part of her P!NK Summer Carnival tour.
