HOTA, Home of the Arts is set to open its theatre doors for the Queensland exclusive season of the four-time Tony Award® winning musical sensation, In The Heights.
Created by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the mastermind behind Hamilton and Moana and set in the dynamic neighbourhood of Washington Heights in New York, the musical blends hip-hop, salsa, contemporary Latin beats and soul-stirring storytelling into an electrifying musical theatre experience.
Directed by Luke Joslin, this five-star Australian production by Joshua Robson Productions has been thrilling audiences and critics alike, with sold-out seasons in both Sydney and Melbourne. Now, Gold Coast audiences have the exclusive opportunity to experience the groundbreaking musical phenomenon when it lights up the HOTA stage from Saturday 13 September 2025.
“In The Heights is bursting with heart, music and energy, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome it to our stage. After winning over audiences in Melbourne and Sydney, we know Gold Coasters will fall in love with this incredible production,” said Yarmila Alfonzetti, Experience Gold Coast Heads of Arts and Culture.
The cast will be led by Ryan González (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) as Usnavi and Olivia Vásquez (West Side Story) as Vanessa, returning to their celebrated roles from the Sydney and Melbourne seasons.
Completing the cast will be Mariah Gonzalez as Nina Rosario, Ngali Shaw (The Twelve, Jacky, 37) as Benny, Steve Costi (West Side Story) as Sonny, Lena Cruz (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, Heartbreak High), as Abuela Claudia, Vanessa Menjivar (Dreamgirls, The Colour Purple) as Daniela, Tamara Foglia Castañeda as Carla, Alexander Palacio as Kevin Rosario and Angela Rosero as Camila Rosario, Richard Valdez as Piragua Guy, and Dayton Tavares as Graffiti Pete.
