Pearl Jam to kick off Australian tour on the Gold Coast

15 Feb 2024

Iconic American rock band Pearl Jam will heat up Heritage Bank Stadium this November, the first Australian stop on the band's Dark Matter World Tour 2024 announced today.

It has been a decade since Pearl Jam last performed in the country in 2014, and promoters are expecting more than 40,000 fans to rush to secure tickets to the band's first show on the Gold Coast, and only Queensland concert.

"Securing the first stop of an Australian tour, and a Queensland-exclusive, for one of the biggest rock bands of all time is a huge coup for the Gold Coast," said Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn.

"Australian fans haven't had the chance to see Pearl Jam for a very long time and we're expecting a lot of people to travel here from across the state, and indeed the country, for the opportunity to experience the epic live performance these rock legends are known for."

Including the Gold Coast, Pearl Jam will play just three cities while in Australia, with stops in both Melbourne and Sydney. The limited number of Australian cities included in the tour makes the Gold Coast concert and holiday experience particularly enticing for music fans from other states including South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Supporting Pearl Jam on the Gold Coast will be another rare music treat for fans, the groundbreaking alternative rock band, the Pixies.

Live Nation, Senior Vice President – Concerts & Touring, Mark Vaughan said: “Hot on the heels of Harry Styles and P!nk, Live Nation is proud to be bringing back global rock icons Pearl Jam to the Gold Coast. This isn't just a concert, it's a history-making event.

“With huge demand for live music in the city, we are committed to growing live entertainment and not just because fans of the Goldy love to come out to play, but because these events are important for boosting the local economy, driving tourism, and supporting hundreds of businesses and jobs!”

Pearl Jam joins a growing list of international music acts choosing to add a Gold Coast stop to their Australian tours with three-time Grammy Award-winning singer, performer, and international pop icon P!nk to bring her Summer Carnival 2024 tour to the beachside city later this month.

Final tickets are still available for P!nk's Heritage Bank Stadium show on Tuesday 20 February with close to 50,000 fans expected.

Experience Gold Coast CEO John Warn said securing more global music acts is part of the city's broader event attraction strategy.

"We want the Gold Coast to become a must-stop on the touring schedule for international artists and the fact that Harry Styles, Paul McCartney, Guns 'N Roses, P!nk, and now Pearl Jam, have all chosen to come and perform at Heritage Bank Stadium, shows this city is well and truly on the way to achieving that."

Fans are urged to register for Pearl Jam's long-awaited Australian Tour and Gold Coast show from today via Ticketmaster. Full details can be found here.
