CELEBRATING A CREATIVE WEEK AT HOTA!
Last month, HOTA came alive with colour and creativity as internationally acclaimed artist Morag Myerscough lit up the Gold Coast with a vibrant series of events made possible by our amazing HOTA Home Company Everybody NOW!, who brought this international collaboration and week-long Creative Residency to life!
From a hands-on Artist Workshop, an intimate, free creative workshop exploring process and practice, to We Make Belonging – In Conversation, a thought-provoking evening about Belonging with Morag, Holly Ringland, and Siân Hromek, hosted by ABC Gold Coast’s Nicole Dyer. Fun and joyful Colour and Pattern Play Workshop for families, these events brought together creativity, community, and global ideas, cementing the Gold Coast as a vibrant cultural hub.
Across three vibrant days, sessions were at full capacity, igniting creativity and sparking conversations around home and belonging, through bold design, storytelling, drawing and lots of colour. Thank you for helping us make our city shine brighter than ever and we look forward to the community creations contributing to the collective design of a large-scale arts installation in 2026!
JUNIOR BURGER ROCKS KIDS TAKE OVER AND LAUNCHES A NEW WEB SERIES!
The world’s greatest kids’ rock’n’roll band, Junior Burger, brought the house down during Kids Take Over 2025 with their high-energy live show, getting kids into the groove! Now, they’re taking that same spirit into the shed with their brand-new four-part web series, I Fixed My Bike By Myself, designed to empower kids to take control, build confidence, and learn practical skills while having fun.
Across four episodes, Junior Burger shows kids how to troubleshoot, clean, customise, and fix their bikes, turning everyday challenges into opportunities for creativity and problem-solving. This isn’t your average YouTube tutorial; it’s a hands-on adventure packed with laughs and funky tunes from Junior Burger’s debut EP, Totally Unsupervised.
Parents will love it too! Whether your family bikes need a little TLC or you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to get rolling, this series proves that anyone can have a go. Their flagship bike, a $20 tip find, was back on the road with just a few simple fixes, showing that every child deserves the joy of riding.
Proudly supported by the Queensland Government Bike Riding Encouragement Program.
