YOUR GUIDE TO THE GOLD COAST MARATHON WEEKEND
The ASICS Gold Coast Marathon returns this weekend, 4-5 July, bringing tens of thousands of participants and supporters to the city for one of Australia's premier road running events. Whether you're cheering on a runner, looking for a family-friendly day out, or simply keen to soak up the atmosphere, there are plenty of ways to get involved.
The Race Precinct at Broadwater Parklands is the heart of the event, featuring the start and finish lines, big screens, live entertainment and a vibrant race-day atmosphere. Other popular viewing locations include Harley Park, Pratten Park, Surfers Paradise, Miami and Runaway Bay, where supporters can cheer runners on as they tackle the iconic coastal course.
The marathon weekend is a fantastic opportunity to experience the energy of the event, explore the city's beaches and precincts, and support athletes from across Australia and around the world. Live runner tracking and event broadcasts are also available via the official Gold Coast Marathon app and website.
GOLD COAST TO HOST NATIONAL NRL WHEELCHAIR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Gold Coast will welcome the 2026 LCA NRL Wheelchair National Championship from 10–12 July at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre, bringing together seven representative teams from across Australia and New Zealand for the nation’s premier wheelchair rugby league event.
The 2026 championship will feature members of the Australian Wheelaroos, providing fans with a rare opportunity to see some of the sport's top athletes in action ahead of the Rugby League World Cup 2026, to be held across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in October. The event also serves as a key qualification requirement for Wheelaroos selection, adding further significance to the competition.
The championship highlights the continued growth of wheelchair rugby league and reinforces the Gold Coast’s reputation as a leading destination for para and inclusive sport. Over three days, athletes, officials and supporters will travel to the region to compete and experience the city’s world-class sporting facilities.
With free entry for spectators, the event offers locals and visitors the opportunity to witness elite wheelchair rugby league while celebrating the inclusive and community-focused nature of the sport.
FESTIVAL OF SKATEBOARDING TO BRING ACTION SPORTS SHOWCASE TO THE GOLD COAST
The inaugural Gold Coast Festival of Skateboarding will take over the city throughout the July school holidays bringing together elite competition, grassroots participation opportunities and community activations in what is set to become Australia's largest celebration of skateboarding, youth culture and action sports.
Headlining the festival is Rumble on the Beach, which will see Australia's top street and park skateboarders compete from 9–19 July at Elanora Bowl and Pizzey Park. The event has been designated as the 2026 Skate Australia National Championships, marking a significant milestone for the sport and strengthening the pathway towards future international and Olympic competition.
The festival will also feature Just Roll With It, Australia's premier adaptive skateboarding competition, alongside participation programs and visitor experiences across multiple Gold Coast locations. Together, the events showcase the city's world-class facilities and growing reputation as a destination for action sports and active lifestyles.
