CLOUD PLAY IS COMING
In just over 2 weeks, the team at Poetic Kinetics will land on the Gold Coast to install the biggest artwork to date for Wonder 2025. CLOUD PLAY will be a ‘must see’ attraction in its limited exhibition on HOTA’s Outdoor Stage.
As the crates are packed and the engineering is confirmed, let’s learn more about CLOUD PLAY and the team at Poetic Kinetics who have commissioned this work exclusively for the Gold Coast.
- CLOUD PLAY is 530sqm of artistry soaring across the Gold Coast Skyline
- Spanning the Outdoor Stage lawns, it is approximately 50m is length and 22m wide, soaring 35m in the air.
- It is made up of thousands of Sky Ribbons that dance, flow and move in line with the wind, creating a movement similar to a flock of birds or school of fish.
- Approximately 10,000 of those ribbons contain messages from the community by responding to ‘I’m Grateful to Call the Gold Coast home because…’
- Cloud Play is part of the Skynet Series by Poetic Kinetics who have installed Skynets all over the world from Los Angeles, Berlin, Hong Kong and St Petersburg and Korea – Now it’s time for Gold Coast to have its very own Skynet.
- CLOUD PLAY will be complimented by a First Nations soundtrack by Saltwater man Lann Levinge and leading Digeridoo virtuoso William Barton, telling stories of the sky.
- By night, experience CLOUD PLAY in a different light as the team at Ikonix light the artwork with a symphony of colour that changes based on weather data.
