STRENGTHENING GOLD COAST AND TAIPEI EDUCATION CONNECTIONS
Experience Gold Coast welcomed a group of pre-service teachers from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) to the Gold Coast for a two-week teaching placement at Emmanuel College and Josiah College.
To mark their arrival, representatives from NTNU, the two host schools and Experience Gold Coast came together at SkyPoint to celebrate this exciting international partnership.
The teaching placement is the result of relationships strengthened through the longstanding Sister City partnership between the Gold Coast and Taipei, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between Experience Gold Coast and the Taipei City Government's Department of Education. It also builds on the 2024 Gold Coast education delegation to Taipei, where NTNU was one of the program's key hosts.
During their stay, the pre-service teachers will gain valuable classroom experience, work alongside Australian educators and students, and develop a deeper understanding of Queensland's education system and teaching practices.
Recognised as one of Taiwan's leading teacher education institutions, NTNU has a long history of preparing future educators and education leaders. This teaching placement is another important step in strengthening education links between the Gold Coast and Taipei, creating valuable opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange into the future.

JULY AT THE GOLD COAST STUDENT HUB
From strikes on the bowling lanes to moments of mindfulness, July was another action-packed month at the Gold Coast Student Hub!
Students enjoyed a diverse range of activities, including a fun bowling outing, a relaxing sound healing session, interview preparation workshops to build confidence for the job market, and a vibrant Colombian social lunch that ended with an unforgettable spontaneous dance party.
These activities are all part of our commitment to creating a welcoming community where students can connect, develop new skills, support their wellbeing and make the most of their Gold Coast experience.
A COLOMBIAN SOCIAL LUNCH TO REMEMBER
Our July Colombian Social Lunch was filled with great food, new connections and plenty of energy!
Students had the opportunity to meet representatives from the Latin Community Hub and the Australian Census team, who shared valuable information about community services and upcoming Census support sessions available at the Gold Coast Student Hub.
The highlight of the afternoon was an impromptu dance session that quickly transformed into a lively celebration of Colombian culture.
Laughter, music and dancing brought everyone together, creating an unforgettable atmosphere and showcasing the vibrant diversity of our student community.
A huge thank you to the Latin Community Hub and Sofi Neira for helping make this event such a memorable experience for our students!

MANAGED GROWTH REMAINS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT'S DIRECTION FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
At The PIE Live Asia Pacific 2026, Assistant Minister for International Education Julian Hill reaffirmed the Australian Government's commitment to a policy of "managed growth" for the sector. He said the focus remains on maintaining visa integrity, sustainable migration and quality outcomes, with success measured by the value international education delivers rather than enrolment numbers alone. 2027 INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ALLOCATIONS RELEASED
The Australian Government has released provider-by-provider New Overseas Student Commencements (NOSC) allocations for 2027, maintaining the National Planning Level of 295,000 commencements. While the earlier release provides greater certainty for planning, the article suggests visa processing times, refusal rates and the increased student visa application fee may continue to influence recruitment outcomes. KIDS FOR THE REEF SCHOOL EXCURSION REBATES NOW OPEN
Schools across Australia can now apply for funding through the Australian Government's Kids for the Reef School Excursion Rebate Program. Eligible Year 4–12 students attending overnight curriculum-linked excursions to the Great Barrier Reef can receive rebates, with higher funding available for regional, remote and disadvantaged schools. Applications remain open until 12 May 2028, or until funding is fully allocated. Learn more.
