GOLD COAST NEW STUDENT GRANTS
We’re thrilled to launch the Gold Coast New Student Grants, an exciting initiative designed to attract offshore international students and support them with their startup financial costs, and initial living expenses.
Valued at $1,000 per student, this grant helps make the transition to studying on the Gold Coast smoother, ensuring students can fully embrace everything our vibrant city has to offer.
Launched at KKTC Education earlier this week, this initiative is set to drive strong student interest in choosing the Gold Coast as their study destination.
We’re calling on our member education providers to help spread the word! To support your outreach, we’ve uploaded social media assets and ready-to-use content to our Agent Toolkit and Members' Toolkit.
These resources are designed to maximise awareness and engagement - feel free to share them across your student channels.
This grant is also a powerful conversion tool. If you have students with a letter of offer, this is a fantastic incentive to encourage them to choose the Gold Coast for their studies.

LIGHTS, CAMERAS, CAREERS!
The AACTA Screen Careers Expo at HOTA on Saturday, 8 February was a fantastic opportunity for students to explore careers in the film and media industry. Our team shared insights on the support and benefits available to students studying film on the Gold Coast, and, of course, handing out some great giveaways!
The expo provided high school students with invaluable insights into the exciting screen industry, showcasing the many career pathways and the education and training opportunities available to help them break into the field.
Presented by the Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) and Essential Screen Skills, the event also gave attendees the chance to connect with major screen employers in the region and hear first-hand advice from industry professionals.

BOND UNIVERSITY’S CLUB SIGN-UP DAY: A VIBRANT START TO 2025
Last month’s Bond University's Club Sign-Up Day was a resounding success, drawing over 1500 students eager to explore campus life. The Gold Coast Student HUB showcased its comprehensive support services, while the Student Experience GC team engaged directly with students, offering practical guidance.
The event highlighted the Mayor's Student Ambassador Program, an initiative fostering leadership and community engagement. With the application deadline in May 2025, students were encouraged to seize this opportunity to represent their peers and contribute to the Gold Coast community.
Set against the backdrop of a sunny Gold Coast day, the event provided a perfect platform for students to join clubs, network, and discover resources supporting their university journey. Students left feeling energised and prepared for their upcoming academic adventures.

WONDERFUL TRAVEL VISITORS HOSTED AT THE STUDENT HUB
Last week, the Experience Gold Coast Education team hosted 62 students and parents from China at the Gold Coast Student Hub. Visitors explored the city’s diverse education offerings, student support services, and vibrant lifestyle.
One young student shared, “Among the cities we visited, the Gold Coast is my favourite. I can’t wait to explore more by tram with my parents.”
By showcasing the Gold Coast as a top study destination, we’re attracting international students and their families - supporting the city’s education sector and contributing to the visitor economy.
