A STANDOUT SUCCESS: BROWNS AT THE STUDENT RECRUITMENT EVENT
BROWNS English Language School is celebrating the success of the recent Student Recruitment Event organised by our Career and Employability Team at EGC. 17 students from the school recently attended the student jobs event to showcase their skills to prospective employers in the hopes of landing a new job.
Thanks to BROWNS’ Jobs Club program, which includes RSA certification, barista training, speed interview practice, and English for the workplace—students were well prepared to meet potential employers. As a result, 12 BROWNS students received interview callbacks, with Daniela, Yumi, and Mai receiving job offers from The Langham, Sea World, The Star, and Paradise Resort.
“It was an event that offered not only real job opportunities, but also valuable practice. The employer introductions at the start really helped set the tone and gave students a clear picture of who was in the room,” said Maria Perrone, Campus Manager at Browns English Language School.
The event was a clear success, creating a supportive and high-energy environment where students could shine. BROWNS is proud to be part of such a powerful initiative and is already looking forward to next year’s event!
STUDENT HUB BRINGS BRAZILIAN VIBES FOR BIGGEST SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR
The Gold Coast Student Hub recently hosted its biggest social lunch of the year, and it was bursting with Brazilian flavour, music, and energy! Over 90 students came together to enjoy a delicious feast from Casa Brasil, soaking up the vibrant sounds of Rodrigo Ferraz performing live, and testing their knowledge with fun Brazilian-themed trivia and games.
The afternoon provided a special chance to share culture, celebrate traditions, and make new connections, while giving our Brazilian students a warm taste of home right here on the Gold Coast. And our October theme, you ask? We’re heading to India (metaphorically!) for a vibrant Diwali-themed social lunch, get ready for colour, culture, and connection you won’t want to miss.
BUILDING CONNECTIONS WITH OUR INDUSTRY PARTNERS AT THE HUB
This week, the Hub was fortunate to welcome two of our amazing industry partners who popped in for tour of our facilities and offerings. We were delighted to host Rory Reyes-Cobar from Langports, who brought a group of 10 students to the Hub to learn more about our services and discover all the great features we offer.
The Langports team got a rundown on our packed calendar of free events, met with our dedicated student support officers to enjoyed some of the Hub perks including the board games, Nintendo, and free tea and coffee.
We also welcomed Helena Liberato from Pacific English Study, who visited the Hub to film content for their social media channels. We look forward to welcoming Helena back soon with some of their students to create more content during our World Mental Health Day event.
The Hub is a great resource for any student studying on the Gold Coast, and we are always excited to work with our members to help spread the word. If you’re interested in incorporating a Gold Coast Student Hub tour and presentation into your orientations or would like to collaborate with us on your social media channels, please reach out at info@goldcoaststudenthub.com. Our team would love to discuss opportunities to connect and collaborate further!
OUR FIRST COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS DAY AT THE HUB
The Gold Coast Student Hub recently hosted our very first Community Connections Day, an event designed to give students easy access to information and support from a range of local community services. The event aimed to connect students with programs and resources that can support their wellbeing, studies, and life on the Gold Coast. We were thrilled to welcome service providers from Headspace, WISE Emergency Specialists, QSTARS, Gold Coast Youth Service, the Multicultural Unit from the Queensland Police Department, and Gambling Help Service from Relationships Australia. Each provider offered valuable insights and practical advice, and the feedback from both students and service providers was overwhelmingly positive.
Students who engaged with the services were also entered into our prize draw, with one lucky student walking away with a prize pack including a $50 JB Hi-Fi voucher. Thanks to the great success of this first event, we’re excited to share that Community Connections Day may soon become a regular monthly feature at the Hub.
