TAIWAN YOUTH PROJECT GROUP VISITS THE HUB
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming 21 elite high school students from Taiwan to the Gold Coast Student Hub as part of an international education program centred on UN Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The Gold Coast provided the perfect real-world classroom to see this in action from innovative urban planning to coastal management strategies and climate resilience initiatives. During their visit to the Student Hub, the students discovered why the Gold Coast is a premier study destination, and connected with current international students who shared their study and lifestyle experiences. Students also exchanged key insights and learnings from the Sustainable and Regenerative Tourism course – offering fresh perspectives on the link between tourism and sustainability. We look forward to the possibility of welcoming some of these bright young minds back to the Gold Coast in the future to continue their studies.
EGC INSPIRES JAPAN BUSINESS STUDENTS
Earlier this month we welcomed 35 students from Rikkyo University College of Business in Japan to the Gold Coast Student Hub for an engaging business session. As part of their Griffith University exchange program, the students were tasked with visiting a local business to gain real-world insights.
They arrived well-prepared, having researched Experience Gold Coast in advance, and brought great energy to the discussion. We shared our vision, services, and how we operate as the city’s destination marketing organisation, promoting the Gold Coast as the lifestyle capital of the world. The conversation highlighted our role in connecting education, tourism, events, arts and culture and community, and showcased the unique opportunities the city offers.
The students asked thoughtful questions and expressed strong interest in our work and the Gold Coast lifestyle. We encouraged them to consider returning for future studies, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a world-class destination for education and career growth.
EDUCATION NETWORKING ROADSHOW KICKS OFF THIS MONTH
The Experience Gold Coast Education team is hitting the road later this month alongside our partner education institutions to showcase the city’s world-class study opportunities to education agents across Australia.
We’ll share practical updates on programs and pathways, support services for international students, graduate outcomes, and available scholarships, grants, and incentives.
• Sydney - 26 August
• Melbourne - 27 August
• Perth - 28 August
These exclusive events will connect our leading Gold Coast education providers directly with education agents, creating a powerful opportunity to build strong networks, provide training to agents on the latest offerings, and access to exclusive insights and resources.
STUDENT HUB HELPS ELIZABETH LAND DREAM ROLE
Elizabeth, a student from Imagine Education, has just secured her dream hospitality job at the Sheraton Hotel, thanks to the support from our Student Support team! Elizabeth attended two support sessions with Sera, our Student Support Officer, to work on her CV and assist with her job search. The team even worked with Elizabeth to purchase a suitable wardrobe for the new role.
This is one of the many rewarding roles the Hub plays in supporting our Gold Coast student community. We wish Elizabeth all the best in her new role! Students can book in for support sessions via the Gold Coast Student Hub page on the Experience Gold Coast website.
STUDENT JOB WORKSHOP & RECRUITMENT EVENT THIS SEPTEMBER
September is shaping up to be a big month for Gold Coast students, with two key dates to mark on the calendar. On September 16, we’ll host our annual Student Jobs Recruitment Event, featuring over 100 job opportunities from some of the Gold Coast’s biggest and best employers. This is a prime chance for students to connect directly with hiring businesses and secure employment in a range of industries.
To help students prepare and stand out, we’re running a mock student recruitment workshop at HOTA on September 8. This interactive session will focus on creating a strong resume, answering interview questions with confidence, and sharpening networking skills.
Student communications will begin this week across our social media channels, encouraging participation in both events. Together, these opportunities will empower students to take the next step in their careers and strengthen connections with local employers.
DRIVING CAREER OPPORTUNITIES - OUR OUTREACH VAN IN ACTION
As August continues, our Career Outreach van has been busy bringing opportunities directly to students. In recent weeks, we’ve visited Helensvale SHS, Pimpama SSC, and Kings Christian College’s Pimpama campus. Each stop has been well-attended, sparking valuable conversations and strong engagement with students exploring their career pathways.
The events showcased a diverse cross-section of Gold Coast education providers, employers, and industry representatives, all working together to inspire the next generation. By connecting students with real-world insights and opportunities, our outreach initiative continues to build bridges between education, industry, and future careers across the region.
CAREERS ALLIANCE - PATHWAYS TO PROFESSIONAL CAREERS
We’re excited to announce the date for our third Career Alliance event of the year, with a focus on pathways into professional careers. This exclusive session will bring together leading employers from professional services, law, and technology to discuss career pathways, emerging occupations, and the future skills in demand.
Industry speakers include:
- Department of Justice – Explore career options from entry-level roles to graduate programs
- PwC – Gain insights into working at a Big Four firm and their recruitment process
- Australian Computer Society (ACS) – Learn about dynamic careers in IT and technology
- Westpac – Discover opportunities at the Westpac Technology Hub on the Gold Coast.
UPSKILLING STUDENTS AT THE HUB
The Gold Coast Student Hub has now hosted two sold-out sessions of our Intro to Barista workshop in partnership with the Gold Coast Coffee School. Students have shared fantastic feedback about our skills training workshops, so we’re keeping them coming! In September, the Hub will also be offering discounted First Aid and CPR courses.
