LACE UP FOR THE GOLD COAST MARATHON FESTIVAL

Preferred - Runners in Surfers Paradise.jpg

The 45th edition of the ASICS Gold Coast Marathon is set to take place next weekend, 5 – 6 July 2025, attracting over 39,000 participants from around the globe.

This iconic event features eight races, including the full 42.195 km marathon, the China Airlines Half Marathon, the Southern Cross University 10km Run, the Gold Coast Airport 5 km, and the Australia Fair 2km Junior Dash. With a flat, fast, and scenic course along the coastline, it's no surprise that 60% of participants achieve personal best times each year.

Since its humble beginnings in 1979 with just 124 runners, the Gold Coast Marathon has grown into one of Australia's premier road races. Now holding World Athletics Label status, it continues to attract elite athletes and recreational runners alike, all aiming to challenge themselves on one of the most picturesque courses in the world.

It’s not too late to sign up for a race with places still available across the 5km and 2km races. Or if you prefer your weekends with a little less sweat, head out along the track from Paradise Point to Miami to cheer on the runners or hit the Race Precinct at Broadwater Parklands for food stalls and entertainment.

Australia’s men’s basketball team, the Boomers, are set to light up the Gold Coast on 31 July in a special match against U.S. college giants, the Colorado Buffaloes. With NBA, NBL and NCAA talent all on one court, this is a rare chance to see world-class basketball right here at home — just weeks before the Boomers head to the FIBA Asia Cup.

The Buffaloes are touring Australia as part of their pre-season rebuild, with a strong focus on team chemistry and international experience. The matchup celebrates the growing USA-Australia basketball connection which has exploded in the last decade, with a record 232 Aussies enrolled across NCAA men’s & women’s programs in the 24/25 Season.

The game, to be held at Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre, tops off a week-long event schedule including team training sessions and community basketball clinics with each team.

Don’t miss your chance to be courtside for a massive night of basketball on the Gold Coast. Rally your mates, wear your green and gold, and back the Boomers! Tickets are sale now through INTIX.

BRISBANE BULLETS

The Brisbane Bullets are bringing top-tier basketball to the region for the first time since 2017. The Bullets will take on the New Zealand Breakers on Wednesday 12 November, followed by a clash with long-time rivals the Adelaide 36ers on Wednesday 28 January.

With 10,000 fans expected across both fixtures, this is set to be a slam dunk for the city’s growing sports culture and a major boost to our profile as Australia’s premier destination for live sport.
