GOLD COAST TO HOST RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CUP 2026 TRIPLE-HEADER
The Gold Coast will play a key role in the 2026 Rugby League World Cup, hosting a blockbuster triple-header at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday 31 October.
Fiji faces France in Game 1, followed by an epic match-up between New Zealand and Fiji in Game 2. The triple-header closes with the Kiwi Ferns versus the PNG Orchids.
The RLWC is rugby league’s premier international tournament, running over five weeks from October to November 2026 and featuring men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions. Showcasing 14 nations across 26 teams and 53 matches, the event will be staged across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.
Securing matches for the Gold Coast is a major win for the city. Combined with the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in March, these global sporting events further cement the Gold Coast’s status as an elite international sports destination. With Australia defending both the men’s and women’s titles, strong local support is expected. Tickets for group stage matches are on sale now from just $19.

The countdown is officially on! In less than 100 days, Perth, the Gold Coast and Sydney will come alive as the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ kicks off. It’s set to be a celebration of football, culture and community like no other.
From powerhouse clashes to inspiring underdog moments, the tournament will bring 12 nations and 27 matches to Australia from 1–21 March 2026. This isn’t just football – it’s history in the making.
The Gold Coast will host six key games, including the Matildas v IR Iran on Thursday 5 March. With thrilling on-field action and a vibrant festival atmosphere celebrating women’s sport, the tournament will shine a spotlight on the Gold Coast as a premier destination for major international sporting events.

DOUBLE DOSE OF NETBALL FOR THE GOLD COAST IN 2026
The Gold Coast is set for a massive year of netball in 2026, with the Suncorp Spirit Cup and the Junior State Age Championships locked in for the city.
The Suncorp Spirit Cup returns on Friday 20 February 2026 at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre, giving fans the long-awaited chance to see elite national league action. The blockbuster double-header will see GIANTS Netball face the Melbourne Mavericks followed the now-traditional pre-season clash between rivals the Queensland Firebirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning. The clash will showcase both clubs’ exciting new recruits and continues the Spirit Cup’s tradition of drawing strong Queensland crowds.
Later in the year, the Junior State Age Championships will bring hundreds of young athletes to Hinterland District Netball Association’s upgraded Firth Park from 4–7 July, 2026.
