After being in operation for less than a year, the new kids on the block, Major Events Gold Coast are quickly making a name for themselves.
Major Events Gold Coast (MEGC), funded by City of Gold Coast was formed to drive a whole-of-city strategic approach to major event acquisition, management and delivery. Led by CEO, Jan McCormick the team is committed to developing a distinctive world class portfolio of events that are economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable for the city.
The events portfolio of MEGC is loud and bold, making them a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Developing, curating, and producing an array of events delivered by a team of leading industry experts, MEGC has achieved strong results that have assisted the economic recovery of the city from COVID 19.
In just under a year MEGC has produced and presented three major events including Beyond the Sand, a leading multi-medium arts festival, Australia’s largest non-ticketed music festival, Blues on Broadbeach (pictured) and Australia’s largest rock ‘n’ roll and nostalgia festival, Cooly Rocks On. MEGC is already moving forward with the planning of two more major festivals Groundwater Country Music Festival and their brand new event, SPRINGTIME Music Festival with both due to take place over the coming months.
To date MEGC has supported some of the nation’s biggest sporting, cultural and music events, including Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Barrier Draw, the Australian Swimming Championships, Cooly Classic Ocean Swim and Crafted Beer and Cider Festival – just to name a few.
Proof that age is just a number continues to ring true with MEGC confirmed to continue supporting some of the biggest events in Australia’s landscape, including the TV Week Logie Awards, which are set to return to The Star Gold Coast on November 28 following the award ceremonies cancellation in 2020, Gold Coast 500, plus a host of other national sporting championships and festivals all aimed at driving significant economic impact.
"We’re thrilled to be in a position to support a range of sporting, cultural and music events that meet specific criteria and key performance indicators”, said Major Events Gold Coast, Jan McCormick.
"Planning and producing an event can be trying at the best of time. Doing this while establishing ourselves, coupled with the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 hasn’t been an easy task, but our team have done a tremendous job. I am incredibly proud of all that we have achieved within our first year of operating as Major Events Gold Coast. With the support of City of Gold Coast and our Board I am eager to continue growing our already diverse events portfolio while showcasing all that the Gold Coast has to offer to visitors, event organisers, attendees and spectators for years to come”, said Jan.
MEGC is eager to continue supporting and producing incredible events promising to entertain, excite and delight visitors from near and far for many years to come.
